the siren manhwa

In a groundbreaking move for Korean entertainment, the smash-hit webtoon "Siren: I Became a Contract Family with the Villain" is leaping from screens to stage. Kakao Entertainment revealed on February 11 that this fan-favorite series, which has captivated over 220 million readers worldwide, will be transformed into a musical spectacular.

Set to dazzle audiences at Seoul's prestigious Chungmu Art Center Grand Theater in April 2025, this adaptation promises to bring the supernatural romance to life through the magic of live theater. The story, which has enchanted millions through both its web novel and webtoon versions, weaves a spellbinding tale of Duke Valentine, a nobleman cursed with demonic powers, and the mysterious Siren, whose destiny is intertwined with his across time itself.

Behind this ambitious production stands ShowNote, Kakao Entertainment's theatrical powerhouse, which has assembled an all-star creative team. Award-winning director Park So-young, fresh from her Korean Musical Awards triumph for "Hadestown," will helm the production. The musical's foundation rests in the capable hands of scriptwriter Kim Sol-ji, acclaimed for "Eugene and Eugene," while musical virtuoso Lee Sung-jun of "Frankenstein" fame crafts the score.

The search for fresh talent begins immediately, with auditions running through March 2. The production team is particularly keen to discover the perfect actors to portray the enigmatic Vincent (Duke Valentine's brother) and the commanding Emperor Conrad III, along with ensemble roles that will bring this fantasy world to vibrant life.

"This musical adaptation represents the next evolution in our IP expansion strategy," shared a Kakao Entertainment spokesperson. "Following the success of 'Itaewon Class' musical's upcoming Tokyo premiere this June, we're confident that 'Siren' will set a new standard for webtoon-to-stage adaptations."

The announcement has already sparked excitement among fans, who are eager to see how the beloved characters and their time-bending romance will translate to the musical stage. With its combination of fantasy, romance, and drama, "Siren" is poised to become one of 2025's most anticipated theatrical events.
