Haenam Museum Webtoon Contest

In a creative fusion of prehistoric wonders and modern storytelling, the Haenam Dinosaur Museum is inviting artists to bring ancient footprints to life through their first-ever Dinosaur Webtoon Contest. The museum, nestled in South Korea's Jeollanam-do province, aims to showcase its unique dinosaur heritage through the lens of digital artistry.

At the heart of this innovative competition lies a mysterious star-shaped footprint - a rare testament to the massive herbivorous dinosaurs that once roamed the Korean Peninsula. Artists are challenged to weave this distinctive fossil into their narratives, whether through action-packed adventures, historical tales, or fantastical journeys.

"We're bridging millions of years of history with contemporary digital art," explains a Haenam County representative. "This contest is our way of engaging younger generations with paleontology in a format they love."

The competition welcomes both seasoned webtoon creators and enthusiastic newcomers aged 17 and above. Participants must submit a complete short-form webtoon featuring at least 20 scrolls and an eye-catching cover image by June 13, 2024. Ten talented artists will receive recognition and rewards for their creative interpretations.

Amateur and professional artists interested in participating can find detailed submission guidelines and prize information on the Haenam Dinosaur Museum's official website. Each artist may submit one entry, allowing them to explore any genre while incorporating the iconic star-shaped dinosaur track into their narrative.

This groundbreaking initiative represents a unique intersection of natural history and digital storytelling, promising to bring fresh perspective to South Korea's rich paleontological heritage. The contest not only celebrates artistic talent but also highlights the enduring fascination with dinosaurs in modern culture.
